What a packaging zipper does — and what it does not do
A zipper pouch is a flexible pouch with a molded-in-place sealing device: a projecting rib or fin is inserted into a mating channel to effect the closure, and that seal can be repeatedly opened and closed.
The zipper is a consumer reclosure, not the package’s primary hermetic seal. The intact top seal above it protects the unopened product. After opening, the zipper limits spills and exposure to air — it does not replace the original seal. Barrier and leak performance should therefore be specified against the finished pack, not against the profile on its own.

The same profile performs differently depending on fill weight, storage temperature and how the consumer opens the pack. These are the markets we quote most often.

How the zipper attaches, and why leaks happen
Zipper profiles are attached to the pouch through flanges. Premade-pouch converters can insert the zipper during pouch making, while form-fill-seal lines may use zipper already applied to the film, or equipment that attaches it inline. Flange width, sealant compatibility, application temperature and position tolerance all affect seal quality.
The zipper area contains multiple layers, creating transitions where sealing pressure and temperature have to be controlled. Poor application causes distorted profiles, weak flange seals, channels at the side seals or puckering — which is why most “zipper leaks” are really sealing problems rather than profile problems.

Film and zipper from one factory
Most suppliers make either the film or the zipper. We run both, which shortens the qualification loop: the sealant layer of the film and the flange of the profile can be matched before you run a trial, instead of being reconciled afterwards between two suppliers.

The closure should be backed by data, not by a datasheet. Our food packaging zipper profiles are tested by Zhejiang Fangyuan Test Group (National Center of Quality Inspection for Prepackaged Foods, Zhejiang) against our published enterprise standard Q/ZHC 001-2026. Two current reports cover the PP grade and the PE grade, so the zipper that goes into your pouch carries the same kind of independent evidence as the film behind it.

Zipper FAQ
No. The zipper is a consumer reclosure that can be repeatedly opened and closed. The pack’s original hermetic protection is the intact top seal above the zipper. Please specify barrier and leak requirements against the finished pack.
Grams per metre of profile (g/m) — the standard way the industry quotes zipper weight. It is not the weight of one bag’s zipper.
Widths are often measured differently. Our figures are the total profile width including the flange; some suppliers quote the profile body only, which is narrower. Ask us for a cross-section drawing before comparing.
Yes. We produce PE and CPP film and zipper profiles, so the sealant layer and the flange can be matched and supplied together. We can also quote pre-applied zipper rollstock.
Child-resistant performance is certified for a complete package — container plus closure — not for a zipper on its own, so no zipper supplier can claim CR certification for a profile. We can supply profiles designed for child-resistant applications; testing is carried out on the finished pack.
Press-to-close profiles are designed for repeated consumer use. Tell us your target number of open/close cycles and the fill weight, and we will confirm what the profile can support.
